Cooking and baking have many benefits for older people. For example, baking and cooking can stimulate the senses, which may be dulled or lost in people with dementia. Cooking and baking are highly tactile activities, perfect for experimenting with different textures and sensations, as well as improving hand-eye coordination and motor skills. It also increases appetite ,promotes socialization and memory recall.



Honey and Whole Wheat Almond Cookies

What You'll Need: 

• Cooking spray

• 1 cup whole toasted almonds 

• 1 1/4 cups whole-wheat flour

• 1 cup all-purpose flour

• 1 teaspoon baking powder

• 1/4 teaspoon salt

• 2/3 cup plus 1/4 cup honey, divided

• 1/3 cup canola oil

• 4 tablespoons salted butter, room temperature, divided

• 1 large egg
